Pepal’s third Uganda Leadership Challenge is now underway. Three international/Ugandan project teams came together in February 2012 to define and progress their social projects. Participants came from Johnson and Johnson, NHSBT, TASO, Send a Cow Uganda, Seeds for Development, the Uganda Red Cross Society, and the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service. Leadership training led by Andrena Cumella complemented exciting project progress throughout an exciting week.

6 Heads Innovation and Sustainability Forum

Pepal is hosting the 6 Heads Innovation and Sustainability Forum at Somerset House on 28th November 2011. The 6 Heads Innovation & Sustainability Forum will provide a platform to discuss how various facets of innovation can enable a transformation of the current system towards a more sustainable path. Thought-provoking presentations will be given by high-profile sustainability professionals including John Elkington, Tom Burke, Mike Tennant and Carmel McQuaid who will share their perspective on the relation between innovation and sustainability. The 6 heads - six postgraduates from an MSc programme at Imperial College London - will share the specific insights gained through their research projects on the following topics. These insights will be shared within the context of 6 breakout discussion groups, to enable participants to actively contribute their perspectives on these areas.

Pepal International Leadership Challenge Uganda: Promise Down the Pipeline

Pepal is delighted to return from the September 2011 International Leadership Challenge in Uganda, which brought together international participants and community leaders from domestic NGOs to collaborate on 4 major projects. The intensive week combined a 2-day field trip, leadership training with the support of Andrena Cumella, an experienced facilitator and career coach, and the opportunity to work alongside Ugandan peers to work on a real-time project plan and presentation. Teams had the opportunity to develop lasting friendships and partnerships, transfer skills and best practices, experience community life in rural Uganda, and foster an understanding of relevant challenges. The programme was held at the Royal Impala Hotel in Munyonyo, Kampala.

Building Bridges through Music - Innovation in the Education Sector

As Head of English at a high achieving grammar school, but with lots of experience of teaching in a variety of less privileged environments, I was delighted to have the opportunity to see for myself the reality of life and education in Uganda over the recent Easter holiday. This was thanks to Pepal and Musequality. Seeing the school' Tender Talents' in Kampala really was an utterly inspiring experience.

Women's International Leadership Challenge: The Dream - The Life Stream

Pepal returns from its first International Women's Leadership Challenge in Uganda. One of the partnerships, the Ugandan Red Cross and NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), came together to increase the collection of safe blood in Uganda in order to save lives of women and children in need of blood.
