The International Leadership Challenge, Uganda (This programme has ended)

The experiential programme supports a cross-cultural exchange of skills and perspectives by teaming professionals from across the globe with community and non-profit organisation (NGO) leaders in Uganda. Each participating NGO is invited to select 2-3 leaders to attend the programme and to identify an organisational challenge to tackle during the programme. These leaders and their international peers will then work collaboratively in teams to resolve the identified challenge.
Over the course of 7 days, participants will be taken through a highly participative process. The project work will be accompanied by first-class executive training which will build leadership capacity, develop confidence and self-awareness, and give participants the skills to work effectively within a cross-cultural, cross-sectoral project team. The formal training component, which will take place in Kampala, will be contextualised by field visits to the local NGO project sites and scheduled time for the teams to discuss challenges and progress projects with senior management of the NGOs.
The programme provides a challenging and very different context in which to test and build leadership skills; it creates new networks and lasting partnerships; and it attracts and polishes women leadership talent from within India, strengthening the organisations within which they work. By bringing together individuals from different sectors to work on concrete projects, Pepal aims to both provide a powerful learning experience and make a measurable difference on the ground.

Participant Criteria
Participants normally have at least 5 years professional experience and should be passionate, committed and open to working with new people in different environments.
Applicants are matched with non-profit partners according to their skills and interest, creating diverse project teams.

Fee
£4,800 (sponsorship available for small companies, self-financing individuals, charities and the public sector).
The fee includes the selection of non-profit organisations, the 7 day programme including training, in-country accommodation, food and transportation, and on-going support by Pepal.
